The New Girl!
Hi everyone I'm Tasha. I am 20 years old, and really want some advice. I have been over weight my whole life, and really reallllllllly want some information on the Lap-Band Surgery. I honestly don't know much about it, and I am the type of person who is even scared to get their blood drawn , I have no idea how I could handle something like this. I feel like I'm too big to ever lose it on my own, and would really love to use this as a tool to finnally be free of all this weight. If you have any advice or would like to start piling the facts, emotional conquests, and basicly what you think please do. I am going to my first Support Meeting early December.

Hi Tasha! I'm in the same boat as you are. I've been researching like a mad woman! Now I'm obsessed. I'm also so scared to needles and the site of blood makes me light headed. I'm going to a seminar Dec 6th. Have you found a doctor yet? All I've been doing is reading what everyone else says on the boards. Lapbandtalk.com is awesome for information..good and bad. I try to read as much as I can so hopefully I'll have a little knowledge when it's my turn. I'm so excited to be starting this. I'm sooooo ready! Don't worry...you'll be fine! We can do this!

Hello Tasha,
My name is Kim.I just had the Lap Band done on October 2nd and it was the best decision I ever made.I never had surgery before and I was scared to death but the Lap Band in my opinion is the safest and most effective tool for me.Because you are young and still in the 200's,you should be a candidate for the Lap Band.I will advise you to go to the Lap Band forum for information on the procedure and Doctors in your area http://obesityhelp.com/forums/LapBand/.If you have any questions,I would be happy to answer.Welcome to the weight loss journey
Hey Tasha...
Im also 20 and this is my first surgery as well. I am scheduled for Monday the 27th. I also researched and went to siminars, and absorbed everything I could from other bandsters. (still doing it) I have issues with needles, and am basically a chicken about everything when it comes to poking me lol. But, I went in for my pre op and it really put me at ease. They explained everything that would happen to me. The only stick I am going to see, is the IV they put in my hand to give me the drugs to go night night. I know surgery is a scary thing, but as long as your asleep you only have the after things to deal with. That makes its better for me. Good luck in your decision :0)

Hi, Tasha
I'm new as well, I just happen to register here at ObesityHelp.com because I'm looking for help as well. But I'd like to inform you that there is a website called www.LapBand.com and I went there for all my information I needed to understand the Lapband better. I also came across a Video that shows the Laproscopic Lapband surgery, but I wouldn't recommend it if you can't handle to see blood, because it was a live recording at the time of the video so you see it all. Hope I helped. Good luck on your Journey. Later.
