eating....
I am with you on this Alexa...I think it's mental for me...I know soft will not hurt my pouch nor will shakes...I do venture into into salmon ocassionally but then I so have to chew. I think chewing and enjoying food has never been something I enjoyed even before surgery. I do allot of yogurt, soups (a new one from Campbells has no preservatives its Select Gold Label in a carton...sooo good), cheese...pretty much anything that will melt...tons of berries which I add to yogurt or eat alone.
Not sure about chewing, but just beware of what is called "Soft Calorie Syndrome." It is the tendency to eat/drink foods that are not dense like animal protein - shakes, soups, crackers, etc. - which can lead to weight regain if one isn't careful. I started down that same road last week before I realized it. You have come too far for that same fate!
What does your nut say? I am "simply" making myself follow the strict pouch rules again.

I've been pretty ambivalent about food for the past, oh, six months or so. I have to make myself eat the right things. I actually start thinking how easy it would be to eat the McNuggets with my son, as opposed to a non-McD chicken breast. As my surgeon says, he did surgery on my gut and not my head!
Hang in there. Looking forward to seeing if others have the same experience, since we are pretty close in op date.

Kristen,
It certainly has not been a problem for me in regards to gaining weight. I am 122 lbs. and maintaining this weight has been working for me. I remember my nut telling me to keep food in my mouth extra long while chewing or eating and it would mix with saliva and do better in my stomach whether it was liquid, an egg or whatever. That does seem to work for me and I savor every bite of whatever and I am full, if not I eat tiny meals through out the day and I feel like I am eating all day long but I stay at 800-1000 cal a day and my surgeon who I just saw is very pleased. I also use my pilates 23 minutes a day.
I never heard of soft food syndrome, is there info here on OH?
