Embarrasing Question

Okayyyyyyyyy - I am a pretty open person however when it comes to certain things I have a hard time asking questions/talking about. One of those things is having to do with going to the potty. I know this is a common thing after having surgery but I have been just "dealing" with it and today I am just down right uncomfortable. I have periods of time that I do get constipated but it usually only lasts a day or so and then I finally go. Well I think I might have hemroids because my hiney HURTS! It is hurting to sit down and I am having to make it through work and I am miserable. I feel so stupid posting here but I figure somebody out there has had the same thing happen to them. I know I could call the dr. but for something like this I figured it wasn't exactly a medical emergency. I know there are creams and things you can get to help but heck I don't know what I need to buy in the first place. I mean I am sure it is like picking out shampoo or toothpaste where you just stare at the 100's of products and are confused as heck. Also, how can I prevent this from happening is there something I can incorporate in my diet like a food or a product to help keep me regulated a little bit better???

This is not embarrassing but quite common...I'm feeling like that right now myself and Im thinking it could be caused by my protein shakes. We can try stool softener or any product to soften us up or fiber to keep us regular...this is my best guess. Good luck.

Grest guess....that's exactly right. No matter what's causing the problem, stool softeners and fiber are your best bet. La Wanda

I literally feel your pain - I just got out of the hospital and the morphine/percocet have done a bad bad thing.... Colace, WARM water every few mins, and Fiber... Oh and this may sound silly but it works.... RUB both your knees as you sit there = apparently is has someting to do with accupresure points and does help! Barbi

Have you tried Milk of Magnesia? Drink lots and lots of water! And walk, walk and walk. I take an Omega 3 capsule every day and I think it helps. Now if it happens it's because I was taking Tylenol for arthritis too often..

Try the fiber and stool softners...don't buy a cream because it might not be hemmroids it could be a fissure...and like others said fiber and stool softners will make either problem better. But trust me hemmroid cream does not help a fissure it just makes it burn more...especially if you do the insert...ouch. Sarah

This must be the month for constipation. I started a change in my bms too and its annoying. I started increasing to a bran flake cereal with flax in it, increased my water, ate prunes, and its helping. this may sound gross, but get a mirror out and look. If its a hemoroid, it will be swollen and pinky blue. Then you will know if its ok to put hemorroid cream on it, or a tucks pad. Sometimes you can get little, for lack of a better word, pimples in the anal area and they can be painful. You just have to put pressure on them, and they will empty and go away. I hope you feel better...I bet it is hemorroids and they are ouchy. I got them through pregnancy, but never had an inflammed one till a few months ago, and that baby was big. It did go away and the cream did help, preparation H its called. blessings, Tami

This is going to sound strange but where does your hiney hurt when you sit down. The reason I ask this is because it seems one of the first things to go is the padding around the tailbone and that makes sitting awful painful. Trouble is there is not much you can do for that. You can try sitting on a donut and there is a surgical fix as well. Red

Good Morning! I appreciate all your posts! I went by the store last night and got some Prep H and Tucks Pads. I went straight home and got in a warm bath and just cried about 10 min. then decided to get out and try the cream. I did get a mirror to see and it does look like a hemy! The medicine helped some but I am still uncomfortable. I am going to just keep on using the cream/pads and hope it goes away. I ate a small bowl of raisin bran last thinking that might help me stay regular! Do you guys use that benefiber or whatever it is called that stuff you sprinkle over food?

Kellie the prep H suppositories are really good as well, they treat from the inside out. I personally use both. And as far as the fiber, I use the chewable benefiber. Hope things get better soon, it could take a couple days.
