Desperately wanting to lose weight
So many of you have done incredible transformation. I am only 3 weeks post ops and need your help. I am very down because the 1st week I lost 21 pounds it was crazy and I didn't expect to keep losing at that rate; however, I've been on this slump that I only lose 3 pounds a week is this normal? I feel I should be losing more? Could you all try and think back to what you were eating during that 3rd or 4th week period and give me some advise...Desperately wanting to lose weight.

Welcome to the loser's bench
You will have times you may not lose anything for weeks, and then all of a sudden you will see a 5 pound loss at once.. Don't stress it....You WILL lose the weight. Some people are slower than others.....a lot depends on how much weight you have to lose. The heavier people tend lose faster. Make sure you are eating the recommended amount of calories by your nutritionist, because we tend to fall back into our old way of dieting by starving our selves....when we do that our body will stall. Make sure you are getting your 60-80 grams of protein a day, with at least 64 oz of liquids, and "only weigh yourself once a month". (Make that a rule) When you look back at your weight loss over the first year you will see that you AVERAGED a couple pounds a week......but that will be 2 pounds here , and 3 pounds there, and sometimes none. if you are able to exercise that will help to jump start your weight loss.

Monica - the "wls window" is 12 - 24 months from surgery to stabilizing the weight so you have JUST begun your journey. You will also have many stalls or plateau..that is just your body catching up with all the changes...Don't beat yourself up if you're not losing consistently....this is not a race and we didn't get obese overnight so we should n't expect to lose it that fast...so take everything in stride..keep up the good work in drinking liquids, vitamins, and exercising and it will come off in it's time. You'll get there. HUGS
Monica, I so remember those days. Im 5 years out now and the 1st year was on plateau after another. Make sure you are getting in all your meals, the more protein you eat the better off you will be. Protein helps lose weight. Make sure to drink plenty of water, and if you can find time do some exercises.
Good luck to you, those were the tough days!
