Hello All- I just had to post. I was so happy last week, when I lost 21 pounds in one week. I really didn't expect to lose that much this week but I did expect to lose at least 5 to 7 pounds. I am so sad! with a loss of only 3 pounds. I know I have not been walking much as the 1st week and I haven't been able to get 64oz in. I also, have to really push myself to eat. What a struggle! I really hope this gets better in terms of being able to get all the liquid and food in so I can maximize my window of opportunity. Any advise is very much welcome! Thank you, Monica

Monica - you must not go by what other do... you body will respond individually. Modt importantly - you must must must drink your water. If not your body begins to go into a hybernation mode - storing food and liquid. NOT GOOD. You must also walk - there is no excuse. Trust me - If you read my profile you'll see that I was walking within hours of the surgery. Get yourself some crystal light and achieve one drinks - you can get them online Be kind to yourself and relax! Barbi PS: I'm writing to you from Cleveland clinic hospital in Weston where I just had surgery to fix a kink in my intestines.

Kick the scales to the curb! I'm serious! It is not your friend right now. Seriously though, I think you have done very well. Everyone is different....and, your 3 pounds sounds like a productive week to me!! They can't all be 25 pound weeks. LOL It is a struggle to get all those fluids in, but it is important to do your very best. I'm two months out and still struggle with the fluids. I have no problem with the protein but had to start getting up two hours earlier to be able to get all my fluids in. Good luck! Betty

How are you doing Betty? You are so right. I am also 2 months out and struggling to get it all in. THe weight is coming off though. Sometimes a little stall and then poof off it comes. I am down from 377 2 weeks preop to 315 this morning. It will happen for you. Be patient. Netta

Monica, Don't be sad. I lost 2-3 lbs every few weeks...but I made it down to 121 so hang in there...those 3 lb weeks add up.

When I had surgery I had lost only 18 lbs in the 2 week period so you're doing great. I was disappointed but the weight continued to drop off. Remember you just had major surgery and these things take time. It is not a race to lose so don't compare with others...you are your own unique self and the weight will come off in it's time. Keep up with the vitamins, water and walking and it will happen. Give yourself time.

Monica, You doing fine with your weight loss but I highly recommend getting the scales out of your house!! For my first year post-op I only weighed at my surgeon, pcp or nutritionist's offices. If I ever hit a stall or plateau I never knew b/c I always showed a loss when I weighed. I knew myself well enough to know that I would obsess over what the scale said so I just did not weigh myself at home - EVER!! Now that I'm 21 month out I do weigh at home b/c I'm not seeing a dr or the nut every month and I want to be sure I don't stray from too far from the plan. Keep in mind that you will have weeks of great weigt loss, then the next few weeks may be a drop in inches, but not much in pounds. If you didn't take your measurements pre-op take them now and whenever you wonder that the wt loss is slowing down, check you measurments. I took mine once a month and it was very encouraging to see the inches coming off as well as the pounds. Good luck & sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk!! Vickie J.

Monica - If you take your average for the 2 weeks that's nearly 12 pounds per week. That's great!!! Being Pre-op that sounds almost unbelievable - Having dieted so many times, I can never recall having a 12 pound loss in a week. Please don't beat yourself up!!! The surgeons did that during the surgery -- just please keep a positive attitude regarding improving your health and doing the right things like sipping and walking. Keep up the good work!!!
