Still having problems

Hi everyone! I've been away for a while trying to get myself back in shape so i can get back to work, which I did last week. I'm still having problems with food, though. I've lost about 40 pounds since the surgery ( as of 10-5-06), but I'm having problems eating. The only thing I can hold in my stomach is yogurt, cottage cheese, thin sliced American cheese, and sometimes Chili. Everything else makes me sick to my stomach, and I end up tossing my "cookies". The doc's office tells me this is normal, but I'm wondering how long this will last. I had my surgery 8-30-06. Any input/suggestions are welcome! Noreen

Keep your chin up. I was the same way for almost the 1st 4 months - and to this day I still have issues from time to time. I would strongly suggest that you continue to use your protein shakes to supplement your meals. You don't mention drinking them in your post. Good luck and stay positive! Barbi

Barbi, you have no idea how much better I feel after reading your post. I am drinking the shakes, but maybe I need to drink more of them. I only have one once in a while, because they don't always sit well with me, either. I'll try to drink more of them. Thanks so much for writng back so quickly! Fondest regards, Noreen

I drink them daily - 2-3 this is and should be your main source of protein intake in the first few months. Don't rush Things, Noreen. I'm almost a year out and I keep my isopure and achieve drinks near me at all time!!!! Good luck! Barbi

Noreen, I would keep a food log and see if you toss your "cookies" when you eat something a little more thicker. As with most newbies...the possibility of a stricture is common place in the early 1-3 months or so. Also check ur doctor's nutritional advise and see what foods you should be eating at this stage of the game...Best of luck!

Hi Noreen, All great advice has been given already. If you keep vomiting, alert the office. I was vomiting everything because every time I vomited, my "plumbing" would swell. My surgeon prescribed a liquid med to help heal the swelling while I was on a soft diet. Vomiting is not normal, though. Feel better soon! Kristen

its different for everyone. I threw up on scrambled eggs for over a year. Not to worry it will work its self out. We have all been there. best wishes, Heather

Thanks to all of you for your input. A food log sounds like a great idea and I'm starting one today. I'm feeling a bit better, just get a bit sick to my stomach now and then; not too much vomiting now. i also got a few more protein shakes and I'm going to try to drink more of them. Love you all , N
