Stopping weight loss.
OK I never thought I would be asking this questions, but how do you slow the weight loss down. I am 6 1/2 months post op and down 110 lbs. My goal was 145 and I am currently 142. I will be fine with losing a few more pounds even though my family has told me I don't need to. I have been eating more this past month trying to slow the weight loss down, but I am still losing. Anyone have any suggestions?
Angie,
Talk to Dr. S. but what he told me was to slowly increase my intake, adding additional healthy carbs until you see the loss stopping or even a little gain. If you gain, back your calories down a bit. It is a bit of trial and error but you'll find a happy place. However, don't be surprised if the amount you can eat w/out gaining changes as you get further out from your surgery. I'm finding now that I'm over 21 months out that I can not eat as much as I could at 14-16 months out. It is my understanding that as our bodies heal the intestines become more effient in the use of our food consumption.
I hope to see you at the Support Group meeting next Sat. That would be a great time to ask some others how they handled this issue.
