Hello all
Well, I have had my surgery on the 9th of October and I must say it wasn't easy.I guess I didn't expect to be in such pain. (kind of a DUH moment for me!! ) I haven't experienced the dumping or any vomiting, but I think that is because I know what will happen if I don't pay attention to what I am doing or eating and not to mention I hate to vomit it scares me, especially now, I couldn't even imagine going through it , with the pain from surgery ! Anyway on to a better note ~~I am 3 full days on my stage 2 pureed diet and walked for ten minutes on my treadmill can't do anymore than that right now. My stomach/laproscopic sites still hurt, can't bend over very well as of yet and can't sleep on my side as this hurrrrtttss also!! I'm sure all will go for the better in time . Would like to know if anyone has any advise for me any and all would be appreciated !!! Thanks,Trish
On to a better~healthier~ ME

Trish - for sure it ISN'T easy...especially such a newbie...it takes several days for the anesthesia to wear off and for sure with incisions you can not even lean on your side. So long as you are following the rules at this stage - which is liquids or soft foods you will not dump (unless you have something with even 5g of sugar or fat.) Just to assure as you go out more - things will be get better physically. Just keep up with your liquids, and walking. "This too shall pass!" Congrats!!
Trish,
It is very challenging at first because your body has just gone through major surgery and you have to get used to eating a different way, different amounts and just things are crazy at first. The soreness does get better and the incisions just heal up and before you know it just are a faint memory! I know it is hard but walk, walk and when you can't walk .. walk more. It will help you get your strength back and help with the "gas" whewww doggie that was terrible for me the gas pains!
I promise the walking helps! You need to pace yourself of course but do get up and move as often as you can! It is hard to hold the liquids at first but try to keep hydrated and eat what you can tolerate. You are doing great and it will just get better and better you will see!

Hello Trish-
I had my surgery on 10/11/06 and it was able to be lap but it was not easy and it did take a little while before I could sleep on my sides. Now on 10/25/06 I can sucessfully move around and sleep as I once did. Hang in there, just a few days makes big differences. (Here in Miami, FL)
