Share of Cost Medicaid

I need to find a surgeon who takes share of cost medicaid, does nayone know of any..help!

Jennifer, what's happening? Your last Profile entry was 2/20/06 and you list Barry Haicken, M.D. as your surgeon but he is retired now for reasons not mentionable. What happened to the United Health Care insurance, last listed? Unfortunately Jennifer I think you will find it difficult to find bariatric surgeons who accept any form of medicaid. The surgeons at my hospital accept Staywell (Medicaid HMO) only. Most surgeons have stopped accepting medicaid as they have had major problems getting paid by medicaid. The two surgeon's at Morton Plant are Dr. Gonzalvo and Dr. Gordon. They were partnered with Dr. Haicken before he retired at the end of last year and are still located in the same office. As per Mike's comment about Dr. Haicken's retirement for reasons unmentionable, Dr. Haicken retired because he could! He was finding that the joy of bariatric surgery was be over powered by all the insurance issues. He also wanted to spend more time with his wife and do some traveling as well as being able to visit his sons who live out of state more. He could afford to retire earl so why not? For those of us who had him for our surgeon, do we miss him? You bet! But we are in wonderful hands with Drs. Gonzalvo and Gordon. If you can find some way to switch over to Staywell.
