Would like to talk to anyone in the Tampa area who has had RNY to DS surgery. I have heard of this surgery and am interested in it.

Terry did you mean Peers? It would be best to go to several Seminars by the area Surgeon's of the Weight Loss Surgeries that your considering. Also a great book to own for these surgeries is "Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies" many consider it the Bible of WLS. Terry also join OH as a member and thus start filling in your profile so that when you ask questions we can look at it and get a better understanding of your life. Read ours and as we've Onspored others you'll be an Inspiration to others too after you. I use Dr.Rehnke of the Palms of Pasadena Hospital, but there is others like Dr.Murr at Tampa General, Dr.Dietrick near USF and Drs.Gonzalvo & Gordon at Morton Plant in Clearwater. Look under Events above to see who, what, where & when some of these Surgeon's Seminars. Good Luck and I can be emailed from my profile listed above, Mike

None of those surgeons do the DS. As far as I know there are no surgeons in Florida that offer the DS. Dr. Kim at Celebration offered it at one time but does not offer it now. I traveled to Omaha for my DS. Red

Terry- I have had the DS -- but I have not had a revision. There are a couple of people that post regularly on the DS board that have had RNY to DS revisions, why not try posting your question there? I do know from the posts I have read many people experience great success with the revision. The DS is a great surgery, unfortunately there is no one in the state of FLorida that does the surgery. You can also go to duodenalswitch.com and get lots of information. Duodenalswitch.com has the most reliable list of DS surgeons anywhere on the internet. It has accurate, credible information. http://www.duodenalswitch.com/ Red http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/

Hi, I had RNY 2/5/05. I believe that I have stretched out my stomach again. I hear you talking about a revision. Last time I asked a question about a revision someone got a little snotty with me and basically talked to me like I was an idiot. I just want to know how you know if you may need a revision? I have only lost 85 lbs in the time that I have had the surgery and it seems as if that may not be enough. I still could use to lose 75 lbs to be at normal weight for my height. I don't know of any doctors in the area. I am in Lee County. Can anyone school me on this and help out? Candice

Candice- I am sorry you were treated so poorly. No one should ever make someone feel bad or insignificant for asking a question. I wish I had an answer for you. I had the DS so I have no experience with the RNY. I believe that generally revisions are done when there is a mechanical failure of the surgery i.e. stoma or pouch enlargement and such. With this in mind I would think you would start by seeing a surgeon and having your RNY assessed for problems. There is a revision forum here on OH so perhaps if you posted your question there someone would be able to give you a good answer. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/Revision/ As far as finding a surgeon, I would suggest you do a search at the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. At least it is a very good place to start because the surgeons there are vetted. http://www.asbs.org/html/about/membersearch2.html Good luck and please let me know how you are doing. I know this has had to be difficult and disappointing for you and for that I am truly sorry. Red
