What can we do? What Topics? Any Events? What kind of Speakers? What Vendors? What WILL Make You WANT To Come and Attend & Participate in the 2007 Obesity Help Conference in Florida?

Is there any location picked yet? I was hoping for the Jacksonville area this time.

The Florida OH Conference will be in the Tampa Bay area in 2007. I've completed asking for Proposals from hotels with large enough conference area. And should have them by Tuesday. At which we'll pick several sending them to Dr.Ganz & the OH Staff to chose which dates. Ot'll most likely be in August or September to keep Room prices to a miminum. And hope that most will stay at the same hotel as the Conference instead of down the street. If all goes as planned we'll be offering a Dance Saturday night & a Cruise out of Tampa too. We'll think of Jacksonville for 2008, but we're raising the Standards for 2007.

Mike, no offense to the ladies here, but maybe some stuff geared more towards men who've had the surgery. The conference in Fort Lauderdale we attended was great and very motovational, but I think I counted maybe half a dozen guys out of, say 200 +/- attendees? Not to mention a women's fashion show by SteinMart? Maybe another fashion show featuring mens clothes. Again, all good stuff and great people, just not enough guy stuff. I'll give it a thought and come up with some suggestions. Looking forward to the conference, let me know if I can do anything here on "right coast" to help out. By the way, any idea on dates yet? hey there! i agree w/john about having more men involved as well. i've never been to a conference before so, my suggestions are pretty vague. i guess some free sample of stuff is always a big hit. door prizes, and just overall fun things to do. i understand it's a informative weekend, but lets party too! lol

Hi Michael, Can you please keep me posted on the details? I hope to be living in Tampa at that time. I usually visit every couple of months and would love to attend one of the support group meetings. If you can give me details on those as well, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Deb

Hi Deb! Glad to hear you are fond of our lovely area here in Tampa Bay! Welcome in advance! There are several surgeons in this area who have really GREAT support groups and staff members. I have consulted with several surgeons (a total of four to be exact!)before making my decision to move forward with my surgery, and have found that the absolute BEST in this area is Dr. Richard Gordon. His staff is absolutely AWESOME, and believe me, I have had the unfortunate nightmare of dealing with a hideously inept and disrespectful group here who treated me terribly, so I have seen both extremes. I cannot tell you enough how WONDERFUL Dr. Gordon and his entire staff are. Groups meet monthly, and you can choose between week night's or Saturday's. Dr. Gordon is located in the Clearwater/Largo area, and his support group meetings are very accessible at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater. Let me know if you would like more information! I'm more than happy to share the details of my journey! Also, I have a FANTASTIC nutritionist who has consulted with over 6,000 weight loss surgery patients, and she too, is located right here in Clearwater. I must say, I struck gold with Dr. Gordon and all of his associates! Email me if you would like, and I'll be happy to provide you with our support group info. ~ Terri
