Ok, I had my surgery on 2/5/05. I was 285 lbs. I got down to 214 lbs and totally came to a screeching hault. I know why, I was having a few too many glasses of wine on a regular basis. Now I have stopped the whole drinking thing for about 7 months now and my weight got down to 200. Then it stopped again. I have not been doing anything differently. I am eating the same etc. Is it possible to still lose weight even though I had my surgery almost 2 years ago? Is it maybe that I platued and now I am starting to lose again? Thanks, Candice

Oh I have been weighing myself regularly and last week I was 198. This week I am 195. I am just curious where it is going because my clothing still feels the same.

Candice - umm...what type of surgery did you have? Cause it's a bit odd to me that you've lost only about 85lbs in 2 years. That's not typical of the usual RNY surgery. I don't think alcohol is a HUGE factor to gain or not losing weight. What others things are you doing? What is your fluid intake? Protein? Exerise level? You need a balance of proteins and carbs with exercise. Are you keeping a log of what you are eating - this will gauge you as to how much you are really eating on a daily basis. Im 2 years now and I have stabilize cause we do stabilize and our digestive system does adapt eventually otherwise we would disappear. However, can we still lose - most definately!!! I have 20 more lbs that I want to lose - but it's a matter of working harder for it and keeping conpliant with the tool given to us. Best of luck...from now on it's HARD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!! to lose.

Ruth the Wine is made totally of Sugars so that was a major factor. Candace have you've gone back to your original basics. Here's a Food Buster it seems I post everyday somewhere: #1 - Do this for 10 days to break a plateau #2 - Drink 2 quarts of water a day #3 - You must have 45 grams of protein supplement and all your vitamins/minerals supplements each day (some suggest at least 60 and up to 80 gr) #4 - You may consume up to 3 oz of the following high protein foods, 5x a day beef pork chicken turkey lamb fish eggs low fat cheese cottage cheese plain yogurt or artificially sweetened (?) peanut butter beans/legumes You may also have: sugar free popsicles tea or coffee sugar free jello broths/bullion (sp?) crystal light drinks #5 - If it's not on the list, you can't have it for 10 days!!!! #6 - Keep a food diary and try to get up to 30 mins of exercise daily

Thank you both for your responses! I know that I am not eating right. I am also afraid that I have stretched out my pouch! I weighed myself this morning and I am at 196. I really should do that food buster thing you posted up there. It makes me quite depressed to think that I have stretched out my stomach again. I wouldn't know what to do. I have stopped losing weight for a long time. I actually stopped losing weight about 9 months after my surgery. I am one of those bad patients though. I should do a lot more. Exercise etc and I don't. I have lost my will. I was determined and totally lost it all. Candice

Oh, and I have been unsuccessful in finding any support groups in my area.
