Well word is sorta getting out around my office about my surgery next week and I am starting to get questions like "havent you tried Weigh****chers?" ect. ect. So far I am responding that YES in fact I have tried almost every diet, pill, plan and gimmick with no avail. The response was is this guaranteed? how do you know this will work? So here I go stating that nothing is guaranteed in life ever. Long story short I am telling people that I have made my mind up and if they cant support my decision they can at least wait until next Tuesday when I am gone and have a field day talking about it. Has anyone else gone through this with their workplace? It's not my job entirely . . . . just the other paralegals I work with Trust Me it is in NO WAY going to deter me for my procedure or any of my other goals- GOD blessed me with this opportunity. I am just curious if anyone else went through this or somthing similiar? Have a great day! Margo Marie

Hey Margo - as with any thing in life as far as what you wear in clothing or how your hair is or the hair color...someone has an opinion. Sometimes we ask for it and sometimes we don't ask for it and still people give it out. So in your case they found out your surgery - in my case I told some...for the most part it was positive but sometimes people who don't understand our struggles will put it in a negative light to deter us from what we want to do. They are trying to see if we will change your mind. This is your life - your decision, stick to your decision. You are not doing it to please anyone..this is for you to be healthy. When one lady tried to scare me into changing my RNY to lapband..I listened to her and I said - well that is great but I think the correct decision for me is this, and left it at that. Worst case scenario if you feel bothered by someone tell them you don't want to talk about it any more. And don't mention any details to those individuals..not even after having surgery...let them SEE the results and when they do..they will change their tune. Don't get discouraged by the opinion of others!! Hugs

Margo just hold up the HAND (as talk to the hand) and tell them to talk to your lawyer. That will shut them up. They should understand if their true paralegals. But anyway try to stay positive, you'll be fine and on the Train to continue your Journey to Meltsville as a Loser soon. Then you'll show all those who think they still know more about it than you. Now to all that read this is there anyone close to Margo who can check in on her as she still needs an OH Angel. Go to the Support Page on her profile to volunteer. Don't look back Margo just progress forward, Mike

Margo, yes inquiring minds want to know and offer an opinion too. But my health is more important than my coworkers nonvaluable opinions. I wish you all the best Be encouraged! Lena T

Hi Margo, Yes, of Yes, I experienced it. Most who asked or tried to sway my mind didn't understand the prodecure, so I told them to come to Orientation with me....LOL. A few close co workers did seriously ask me if I weighed all my options, not as a "guarantee"per se but why did I think I would have sucess? Those folks I responded to, the others who...as you know there is always the trickle effect...found out, I informed them to research and read up on it. Best Wishes, Suz

Let it roll off your back. You will show them all wrong when they see the changes in you anyway. And you will feel great! People just talk, and most really are misinformed. Some genuinely care and are misinformed and therefore scared for you. I know its annoying...but I guess the opposite would be nobody caring a hoot about you at all???? That wouldn't be so cool. You've got alot to work on and get ready for with your surgery, so focus on those things that are good and right and true. Smile, be your sweet self and love those loose tongued people anyway. I did this, and didn't hurt people with any terse remarks, and have had support from even the naysayers. Now they all rejoice with me. So in the end...we have the last laugh (so to speak). Keep focused on your goal...excited with you! Blessings, Tami

Thank you so much for all the responses and encouragement. I feel refreshed and ready to handle the comments until next Monday (my last day of work) I am not going to worry about what they may think or say and just let them see my progression, results and happiness! Thank you once again this board is priceless! It serves not only as a HUGE compilation of knowledge and information but also as a rock for me when I feel a little bit on shaken ground. I cannot begin to say thank you enough to the people I have met and continue meeting through this site for their input, kind words, the way they share their personal experiences and especially their prayers. Thank You all for helping me realize I'm to blessed to be stressed! (((HUGS)))) Margo Marie

Yes I have experienced this along with all of their well meaning horror stories about "someone they knew had it done and ...yadda yadda" . Take time to focus on yourself and preparing for the journey to come. I politely tell folks that compliments are greatfully accepted but I prefer no negativity. I only tell those closest to me about the surgery and when casual acquaintences ask how I am losing I say lots of hard work, which it is. I am not ashamed of the surgery I am greatful for it...I just chose not to introduce any unneeded or unwanted negativity from those who don't understand. I do, however try to reachout to others who are contemplating the surgery when cir****tances allow. Lots of luck. My thoughts are with you.
