I'm am so upset! I just received a call from Celebration Health. I was informed that my insurance company (First Health), won't except my 6 month diet history, from 1997. Now, I'm told that I have to start another 3 month diet , because the diet in 1997 doesn't count. They claim it was too long ago. Did anyone else have this problem? Thanks, Nancy

Hi Nancy, I, too, had to do a six-month diet, with Aetna. It's truly just a small hiccup, but I do know how you feel. Most policies require that the diet has to be within 2 years from the date of surgery. Hang in there!! Kristen

Humana requires a six month diet as well, it also has to be within a 12 month period. Please do not feel you are being picked on, I know you want things to happen ASAP but remember everything happens for a reason. Relax and know that things will happen when it is right for you. Arial

Hi, Thanks, to all of you *****sponded, in my time of disappointment. I thought, I had all my bases covered. All of my pre-ops are done. I was just waiting for my approval. If I had of been on the ball and looked up my coverage, I would have seen a diet had to be done in the last six months. It's just when I got the call, I totally didn't expect it. Live and learn. LOL! I know alot of you have had to go through great hardships. You're right, three months is nothing. Let's just hope I get approved after that. Hugs, to all of you. Nancy

nancy, Be sure to see your pcp and have him/her document you've begun a diet plan and have the doc follow-up as well. Some ins. requires a "medically supervised" diet plan but don't always let you know about the "medically supervised" part until after you've done the diet! Call your ins. provider and find out exactly what diet plans they will accept - will Weigh****chers or something similar do, or can it be a diet your pcp puts you on (Sugar Busters, Atkins, etc) and monitors your progress on. If possible, find out what you need to do today and start NOW - that way you'll have 3 months done before the end of 2006 (12/28/06) and can file for approval before the end of the year, just in case your ins. policy changes effective Jan. 1, 2007. Good luck & hang in there - 3 months will be gone before you know it. Vickie J.

Hi Vickie, You made some really good suggestions. I better follow through and see what the insurance company wants. I was thinking, that I could be followed by my PCP, and have everything documented. I don't want to leave anything to chance. Thanks, for all your support. Nancy

Sorry they are giving you the run around. Look at it this way, 3 months fly so fast! Take advantage of this time to prepare your body for surgery (excercise, vitamins, protein intake, etc.). Best wishes! Read my profile....My journey began in 2003 and I had surgery on April 3rd, 2006!

Hi Gus, You are doing wonderfully, with your weight loss. You don't even look like the same person, in the before and after pictures. I did read your profile, and you sure had a long journey, before getting to the operating room. I'm not giving up, because I've had all my testing, paid $300.00 to the shrink, that was just for the report. You're right, 3 months will be nothing. Hopefully, I'll see surgery in Jan., 2007. Thanks, for your support. Nancy
