I'm in Dothan Al. been banded for 3 years, you've made the right choice. If you have any problems or questions write me. E-mail is [email protected] you lose slower but I feel its safer. I was 260 at the start and I've been at a stop for a while at 200. But, I've lost alot of body fat, have a good support group ready and excise group or trainer. I use to live in St. Cloud fl. got out many years ago.
Pat - I "chose" the RNY cause I needed the "punishment" for when Im noncompliant and knew the lapband would not work for me....however as you correctly stated the tool is there for the person to use and will be a success if they work it. My friend has the lapband and hasn't lost alot of weight and is still heavy but that's because she hasn't worked with the tool she was given. I congratulate you because though you say - you haven't lost alot of weight - you are doing your best and you look GREAT. Keep using that tool to the best of your ability!!
Hugs
:-)Thanks For the information. I found out that there is a support group meeting at the weight losss center next week. I forgot to tell ya'll where I was having the surgery. University Community Hospital in Tampa is now offering the WLS. I am so glad. I really didn't want to have the surgery out of town.
I found a support group close to my neck of the woods. I am having my surgery at the University Community Hospital on Fowler Avenue in Tampa. They have a WLS support group meeting on the last Thursday of the month. I realy learned alot at the meeting. The University Weight Loss Center is Located on the northeast side of the hospital past the emergency room entrance. I will be meeting with the doctor this Thursday to start the pre-op visit.
