My insurance wont cover so I am out!
At one of the bariatric surgery presentations I attended, they mentioned that there is a non-profit, governmental? organization that sometimes covers WLS for those who don't have insurance coverage and/or can't afford it on their own. I don't have any idea how it works, but it can't hurt to contact them. Their website is www.rehabworks.org.
Good luck!
Vocational Rehab is a state program that works with people who face significant barriers to either getting or keeping meaningful employment. Sometimes that barrier is obesity. If you believe your weight is an issue that is effecting your employability, then give them a call. They have many, many, many hoops for you to jump through -- but there are a few people on the board for whom VR paid for surgery. It is certainly worth the price of a telephone call.
