Wondering what to do next
Ok I don't mean to bash you but you haven't filled in your profile so we haven't an idea what you've accomplished already. What does your Primary Doctor say about refering you to a Surgeon for the surgery your choosing? Are you using insurance or self paying? If insurance, have you've contacted them to make sure your policy covers the surgery you've chosen or any of the weight loss surgeries?
United Health Care has been granting the surgeries but things can change over-night. Such as several hospitals in Florida have recently been dropped by UHC as their not covering them anymore.
There you go, start your homework with those assignments.
Good Luck, Mike
I have United Healthcare and was approved in 14 days. I had the HMO and switched to the PPO but both covered Dr. Overcash. I didn't have to contact my PCP or anyone. I called Patrice (352) 368-2828 and set up a consultation and see if they were covered and had the consult. I was 43 so I need to get a stress test and 2 letters acknowledging I knew the risks. That's ALL I had to do - Patrice handled everything else and the next thing I knew I received my approval letter. My co-worker had the laptband with Dr. Overcash and didn't have any problems either. The next year my company took off the "medically necessary" clause and my friends' brother couldn't do the surgery unless he self-paid. So it depends on a few things. Best of luck to you!
