Hi, I had my surgery 11-3-06. I am doing well in the weight as I am down 120 lbs total. But I still am having a lot of pain when I try to eat protein. Egg, lamb, chicken, tuna. And the protein shakes of whey or soy come right back up. I am living on crackers and cheese. cheese is ok. I also am eating squash-cant eat potato or bread. this is really weird. I cant go to my surgeon, dont ask. Am I the only one with this problem? I am finally starting to feel weak. I take double the liquid vitimins. B12 too. But I cant do calcium tablets-they come right back up. I am perplexed. I dont regret the surgery-no way but I need some help/advise. dj

DJ If you can't go to your surgeon, find another doc that will do follow-up for you. At nearly a year out you should be able to eat a pretty wide variety of protein. It sounds like something you need to talk about with a doctor and/or nutritionist or dietician. Vickie J.

DIanne - I agree with Alex - I had my surgery on 11/30/05 - I am assuming you have a typo in your message. While I had 4 strictures, I am finally able to eat just about anything - AS LONG AS I TAKE SMALL BITES, EAT SLOWLY and DO NOT DRINK FOR 30 MINS after eating. Chicken, Bread and raw veggies still pose a problem so I don't have them. The fact that you're bring up WHEY drinks is proof that there is a MAJOR problem with your pouch. Nearly a year out and I'm down 186lbs weighing in @ 162lbs. I have to ask as well....WHY can't you go to the dr who performed this surgery. He/she knows best what is happening to you. Please seek professional help. Don't let your body get to a weaken state where you'll be in a state of desperation. Praying for your speedy recovery. Barbi
