Karen, Congrats on your 74 LBS. that are GONE 4EVER!!!!! I was wondering how much did you start of weighing (I am almost 1 month post-op)? Also as far as electrolytes are concerned I dont know too much but when I get tired of drinking water, I sip some Vitamin Water. Yes, this does have sugar but I just have 1/2 a bottle a day (6grams of sugar). I consulted with my surgeon and dietitian and both ok the amount. I like this drink because it has vitamins and comes in so many flavors ex. Fruit punch, Orange, Kiwi-Strawberry, Apple-Cranberry and many others. Good Luck to you!!! *Melissa*

My highest weight before surgery was 324 pounds but dropped to 314 just before surgery. I never was a water drinker before I had the surgery so this is very hard for me. Guess the reason I ended back in the hospital again as became dehydrated. I went to my doctor last week and they said looks like I am headed that way again. I am drinking as much as I can. Good that you are getting extra vitamins with the vitamin water .. can't wait until I can take my vitamins in pill form instead of this awful liquid multi-vitamin, B-Complex, Iron, calcium and magnesium, B-12!!! Good Luck to you too ... just don't rush adding new foods and follow your doctor's orders!! Karen

Hey Karen, I feel ya on the protein shakes. I had surgery August 14, 2006. I think you may be a little to worried about the sugar. My nutritionist told me sugar has to be 3grams or less. I was sick of protein shakes. I couldn't get them down anymore. So that's when I started eating tilipia fish. I got dehydrated as well. I now make sure I carry a empty bottle of juicy juice filled with water. I was drinking propel, sugar free kool-aid, and the orange crystal light ,and diet snapple. Diet snapple is the bomb. After working with a trainer he told me the importance of drinking plain water. He threw my propel away. I now only drink sugar free koll aid when I crave for something sweet. I just started drinking this protein drink by nectar lattes (cappuccino). The nutrionist gave it to me. It's really good. It taste like coffee. I'm scared to drink alot of things. I experienced dumping before. I thought I had picked up a diet apple snapple drink, in fact it was regular. Boy was I feeling icky and my stomach was hurting. Water is really the best in losing weight. I drunk a gatorade and didn't dump. I'm not sure if it was bad or not. As far as protein goes. I was eating fish and salad all day. And was very satisfied. I now am eating turkey chili, pickeled eggs, fish and salad. Nothing to heavy.Good Luck!!!

WOW Rina .. you are doing good!!!! You are eating things that I can't have and my surgery was done two months before yours. I go to have my blood taken on Monday to check my electrolytes .. afraid they are going to put me back in the hospital again. I got some Propel and am trying that along with drinking water. Either I am dehydrated again or they didn't keep me long enough when was in the hospital for the same thing over Labor Day weekend. I was doing real good until two weeks before that happened then the bottom dropped out and I haven't been good since. Thanks for the ideas and Good Luck with your weight loss!!! Karen
