Hi Everyone, My RNY surgery was done on June 5, 2006 so I am just a little over 3 months out of surgery .. with a weight loss of 74 pounds. Need some suggestions to get my protein in each day. I can't drink the protein shakes anymore .. tastes like chalk and as many as I have tried makes me gag. Spent my third month "anniversary" from the date of surgery in the hospital .. dehydrated. I was in Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Weston .. 5 days being pumped with liquids and had a endoscopy .. which turned out clear. I checked on Gatorade and it has sugar in it .... any suggestion on the protein and is there a sugar free electrolyte drink??? Anyone go through a everything we can have doesn't taste good? Crystal Lite is too sweet, soups are too salty even the low sodium ones. Thanks!! Karen

Karen, Have you tried cutting the Crystal Light with extra water 3:1 or 2:1? That has helped some folks. I know what you mean about soups - all canned soup was either too greasy or salty for me and I LOVE salt. I found I could eat the broth from French Onion soup for Friday's and Applebee's and Won Ton Soup from several Chinese restaurants in town. My hubby would pick it up for me and I would eat on 1 order of soup for several days! Have you tried Unjury's unflavored protein powder? I mix it with food no****er. I particularly like it added to oatmeal. Good luck - I hope you find something that works for you soon! Vickie J.

Thanks Vickie!!!! Didn't think about cutting the Crystal Light and never was a water drinker to begin with .. so been forcing myself to drink it. Not sure if I've tried Unjury's unflavored protein powder .. I've tried so many only to throw them away. How much do you mix with food? I have a wonderful protein powder that is great with 1% milk or skim milk, just like a milk shake .. but it gives me gas big time and upsets my bowels .. so had to quit drinking that. We are suppose to have Chinese tomorrow night and really appreciate the suggestion of Won Ton Soup as didn't know what I was going to order. We had chicken tonight ... took two bites of it and that was all I could eat. I was doing so good after surgery up until I got dehydrated everything has been downhill since. Karen

I usually mix 1/2 - 1 scoop of the unflavored Unjury powder with 1 packet of regular flavor instant oatmeal. The key to using protein in hot food is to make sure the temp is below 130 before adding the protein powder. Good luck! Vickie J.

Just ordered the unflavored Unjury in the one serving packets .. just to try it. I was so happy to see you didn't have to order the full size containers as have so many of those I can't use. Thanks again Vickie!! I sure hope this works for me!!! Karen
