Hey everybody, I am now 5 days postop! I am still on clear liquids, and over the past two days my tummy has been rumbling horribly! It sounds like there is a creature in there trying to come out. Is this normal; and if it is, how long will it last? Thanks! Mindy

Stephanie, did you have a delay on your surgery as it says here 8/11 but you say your 5 days post op? Also is this your happy picture or are you grunting to get that gas out? Grab the spray! Well keep measuring and you won't over eat, then sip alot so you won't get the hungers back between eatting. Mike

Like everyone else said, it is normal. I am 5 1/2 months post op and mine still gets so loud at times it is embarrasing.

Studying medical terminology - it says that the rumbling noises we have is called borborygmus. It's the movement of gas and fluid or both in the GI tract. It happened before but now that we bypassed you here more frequently and sometimes a bit more noisier sometimes depending on much gas/fluid is moving around. We will probably have this the rest of our lives, just depends how much gassy foods or fluid we eat/drink. Enjoy your new plumbing!!! hehehehehe

It is perfectly normal. If yours is particularly loud (like mine at times), always have your significant other sit/stand on your left so other people / strangers won't wonder what critter you're hiding in your pocket! Vickie J.

Congrats... It will make one month for me on the 14th. All I can say is walk for the gas. I'm not telling you to do anything... I was a bad girl. I was not suppose to be on solids until three weeks later. I could'nt take the rumbling and started to get very hungry the second week. Three weeks of liquid was killing me. I ate one tablespoon of tilipia fish chopped up. The sounds stopped and I was satisfied. I never told anyone this! I couldn't get the protein shakes in like before the surgery. So I started a few days earlier on the fish and have been really using it as my protein ever since. Tilipia and salad everyday. I just started back on the protein shakes for breakfast. I've lost 46 pounds in 26 days. It doesnt look like much to me but the scale says so. I've also been working out since my second week out. I think that has helped alot as well. Good luck on your journey!!!
