Hi everyone, I am new here. I have been wanting gastric bypass for years now but in the past have not had insurance. I have started a job and I am going on my 3 month mark at which time I can get the insurance they offer (Aetna), from what I understand is not approving the surgery anymore. If I choose not to take the work insurance, my employer will add an additional $400.00 per month to my paycheck, I would like to apply that amount to an insurance that will allow the surgery with as little hastleas possible. Can anyone give me any ideas on what company would be best to look into? Thank you for any help. Looking forward to getting to know everyone here.

I have United Healthcare and mine was VERY easy to get approved under. Good luck!

Lori, I have Aetna and I was approved after being rejected one time. I asked all my other doctors that treated me for various co-morbidies to write to Aetna on my behalf. That, and the help from the surgeons office did the trick. Noreen

Thanks for the info. The more I search the more i see that the answer to this could be complicated. There is no true "right" one to pick. I am also very concerned that I might have a "waiting period" for any big surgery after picking an insurance company. Anyhot thanks, i am going to pock around at some posts, I have SO SO many questions to ask..... hope I dont drive anyone crazy, lol.
