Question
I am 23 months out. Two weeks ago I had
with a few colleagues. I drank what is in the neck of a Sam Adams bottle. What - 3, maybe 4 sips? And I was loopy!
I was told a year because of the empty calories. But when/if you do, be very, very careful. Most post-ops just cannot process alcohol the same way anymore.

Good question. I don't think you should in the first month. And after that, you need to know little amounts will get you drunk. But its the calories. If you want maximum weight loss, then stay away from anything but protein fruits and veges for the first 6 months. If you start with empty calories now, you will only slow yourself down. so, I'd wait for 6 months.

We were told not to drink because of the way our new tummy's are, the alcohol goes right to your blood stream and liver and it is hard on you, plus you get drunk very fast. Beer is foamy, I don't think that would be very good for your pouch, just like pop isn't. I would wait and and ask your Dr, he knows whats best. good luck on your journey!!! peggy
