I'm new here and I have a date.
Hi I'm Amy and I have a DATE!
I'm having RNY on September 5th in Pensacola Fl and I'm just way beyond excited and ready to go. Now I'm just hoping no hurricanes are coming my way! *crosses fingers* I went through Tricare and after a few initial bumps things went very quickly to get an approval. I've been spending the last few weeks since approval working overtime to compensate for time off and doing housework, all the things no one really enjoys!
Amy,
Congrats on getting approved & getting a date! You'll be on the loser's bench before you know it!
You're wise to do your heavy duty house cleaning now. I would also suggest doing extra cooking & freeze meals (or at least the entree) for your family. You won't be able (or want) to eat much early post-op but having things already prepared for your family goes a long way to keeping your stress level down.
When you're out & about now, be sure to stock up on a few post-op "foods" for yourself. Before my wls I bought small plastic bathroom cups (2 or 3 oz.) and after I got home from the hospital we filled them 1/2 full of sugar free jello . I ate lots of those & the SF popcicles the first few weeks. I wouldn't advise buying a large quantity of soups & protein supplements - a few will do you for several days. Since our tastes often change after wls have some on hand, but don't really stock up on them until you see if your new pouch is going to like them. (I'm 18 months post-op and I'm still trying to eat up the pudding mixes I bought!!)
The day before your surgery, shave your legs, and if you can, treat yourself to a massage, a manicure & pedicure (french or clear if your hospital doesn't allow color on your nails). These luxuries will help relax you before surgery which can only aid your recovery
Good luck!
Vickie J.
