I weighed myself before I left to the hospital and when I got Home I weighed seven pounds more. I think it is due to the I.V. but not sure whats going on. -Melissa

Melissa, Don't panic, it is probably from the meds & IV fluids. When you see your surgeon at a week or 10 days out, I bet you will have begun to lose. Hold on, you're in for a wild ride!! Vickie J.

Hi Melissa, It is not unusual for that to happen with all the fluids they pump into you. I've talked to several who came home heavier than they went in. Knowing the psychological power that the scale has over me, I purposefully have chosen to hide my scales and only weigh at doctor's office. I'm one of those people who likes to jump on the scale everytime I go in the bathroom, and if I saw an increase it would kill me. Soooooo...I don't know if I came home heavier or not. If I did, I don't want to know. Hope you are recovering well!! Betty

Yes, I sure did. I gained 3# but it's fluid weight. During the operation they give you several liters of fluid in a short amount of time. You will start urinating more and getting rid of the excess.
