Hi there! My name is Bonnie and I'm living in Coconut Creek, Fl. I'm in the process of getting a surgery date (for gastric) as a self-pay through US Bariatrics in Fort Lauderdale. I'm really nervous because I have to get 2 clearances, one from my asthma doc (which should be no problem) and one from my thyroid doc (i'm not sure on this because I'm hyperthyroid). I have to wait til tuesday to see the thyroid doc and I'm trying my hardest not to think about it Anyway I was looking to meet some new people on here to have some support. I do have a wonderful hubby but I'd like to talk to some people going through the same thing. I've found so much great info at this website and I'm really excited and just praying for approval from my docs...

Hi Bonnie! Welcome! This is a great place to get support and ask questions. I just moved from Alabama and had my gastric bypass there before I moved last Nov. 21st. I have lost over 100 pounds and feel great. I have been very lucky/blessed to have had this surgery. It truly is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I hope everything goes smoothly with your clearances. I am not sure about thyroid issues but do try not to worry about it. I bet everything will work out perfectly. I worried so much about getting all my appointments done, getting my letters and everything in order. However, it all fell in place so smoothly and I worried all for nothing. Thanks so much you guys for the support! I didn't know about the meeting but I will look into it for sure. Thanks so much for that info. I am so excited and just ready to get the process going! I'm having a real hard time being patient..lol. I guess that good things come to those who wait so I'm trying not to get too antsy. Just cross your fingers for me!!
