I was covered through United Healthcare (LOVE THEM) for my bypass surgery. However now at my new job I have BC/BS PPO and I know abut the HORRORS with BC/BS paying or should I say NOT paying for bypass surgeries. Do any of you know if they are the same paying for plastic surgery? In Oct. I have the option of reopting my insurance and picking another provider through my company. Of course I don't know what my options might be yet. I thought I might could get some info. on the plastic surgery part of BC/BS before I get to that point! Thanks!

While I'm fight with BCBS Highmark for my revision....I was planning a revision with a panniculectomy...but then had to drop doing the panni...but my PS had already submitted...so in the midst of all the fighting I got a letter from BCBS saying I was approved for the panni....all the PS had was the pictures and my general history, no letter from my PCP or history of rashes. My panni does hang below my pubic area...which I hear most cases it must hang at or below pubic area to be medically neccesary. Sarah Margaret

Hmm so it seems they may approve those type surgeries easier than the bypass. I swear it just burns me up! If a person has a letter from a dr. and mountains of evidence stating that the surgery is medically necessary than by golly it should be covered!!! I just wish that all insurance companies were like the United Healthcare I had. I am going to sound stupid but is the panni like belly skin that hangs down? I don't have that at all just a little bit of loose skin that I want off. I am VERY fortunate to be this way. I mean I couldn't bust out in a bikini or anything and I know it is there. I really want a breast lift more than anything. I needed one badly before surgery and now that I have gone from a DD to a C/B (which I LOVE) I want them lifted. I hate the way they look they sag down sooooo badly.

Yes, pannus is the belly skin. I don't know how they are with other areas for PS...I know of cousre documented rashes with a PCP for months and prescription treatment are usually neccesary. Sarah

Seems like I'm battleing a lot of people lately. I'm waiting on records from Ohio so I can see what they say, hopefully it will indicate my pouch was made a little on the big side to begin with, if not I will just go with the clinic notes that show I wasn't feeling full in the beginning...anytime in year one and all the nutrition visits that show I was being compliant with going to visits and etc. But in the mean time I am fighting with landlords because of rats in apt. now moving, found another place but need to pack and move by end of month. I hate moving. So even that will put surgery off a little bit also. Argh!!! Sarah

I work at LB tomorrow and will get my schedule for the week. I know I close Monday and the manager said he had me closing a few other nights. But I specifically asked for the 19th off...we'll see about Friday. Where are you all meeting? Sarah
