What about Coffee?

I'm not a big coffee drinker, but I do like to have a cup or 2 at work on occasion. Can we have coffee? If so, do we need to wait a certain amount of time after surgery? Thanks, Laurie

It depends on your doctor but make sure to use equal or somthing other than sugar. I drink it allot however It really makes me run to the bathroom. Good luck

I drink it, but it is decaf with sugar free creamer (vanilla caramel) and artificial sweetner. It is just another way to help me get in my fluids. If it has caffeine you should not count it as a fluid because it can be a diuretic.

i think you have to wait a month or so for coffee and then it has to be decaf because it it too tough on the pouch. I drink decaf all the time now. blessings, Tami

I drink coffee every day now and I am about 7 months out .. I didn't drink it directly after surgery because I wanted my pouch to heal fully without taking a chance the coffee might not sit well with me. I drink a cup each morning and sometimes a cup at night with no problems. I only use splenda/equal because I do not eat any sugar. I also will ice down coffee sometimes just 1/2 cup for a cold coffee treat some days!
