I NEED HELP WITH MY PCP BLOOD WORK
CBC Chem panel, B12 & vitamin levels, calcium, iron, ALT & AST (which are liver functio tests). Most PCP don't check the B12 though they may check for other stuff...if you're a diabetic they check for the glucose levels. Best of luck. You want to do this every 3 months (for life)..things change after surgery. I had my gallbladder out and then I had some strange pains..which was possible gastro paresis.....other medications can create havic with our system...so it's all best to get proper labs.
As the other poster said, You will need the following
CBC Chem panel, B12 & vitamin levels, calcium, iron, ALT & AST (which are liver functio tests).
PLUS you should have
I am looking at my last Lab report and just typing what is listed)
Zinc Plasma, Thyroid Panel, Lipid Panel, GGT, LD, Magnesium, Phosphate, Iron and Total Iron, Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, Ferritin, Folate ---
The lab will draw about 8-10 vials of blood. You will have to do this as a fasting test---so no food after midnight--and have the blood drawn early--THEN go eat.
Good Luck--and I hope they are all within range!!!

Sherry, my Primary just did my Blood Work which I had to ask them to do being 11 weeks out. When I got the results back a week later I asked about the B vitamins, Calcium & Iron. Which they responed they didn't check for those!! WHAT, they have 6 other WLS patients with my same RNY. Can they be so ignorant. Well they took 6 more vials, but I had eatten already that morning, so I'm concerned on how great those results are. They called and said everything was great. But I will be stopping for a copy before I see my Surgeon on Thursday. Oh that's today.
This is your health & body. Which you need to stay on top of everything now to a safe & healthier progression.
