Pre-op DIET
Just keep on track with whatever your surgeon asks you to do! I didn't have any kind of a special diet but 48 hrs. before surgery was nothing but liquids. I honestly was so pumped up about my surgery and had worked on my emotional self months before that is was so easy to do the liquids. I was motivated and knew what I wanted and that those liquids were simply a means to a end. I also had to stop smoking which was very difficult but I did it. I knew that I could let nothing stand in between me and my surgery..not after all the appointments and hoops a person has to jump through. I know I sound like I am trying to be all Dr. Phil ... LOL but really I am not. I just know that SO much of this surgery isn't just the physical changes but the emotional/mental ones we have to prepare ourselves for. I look at myself now .. I see the scale.. I see the number is 130.5 but yet when I look in that mirror I still see the fat girl some days. I know that for me I have to continually work on my emotional self and keep my head together and work to overcome the "fat" girl syndrome. I know that right now you are just starting out and getting ready for your surgery but please be ready for it on all levels as best you can be. It will make all the difference in the world.
Most of the time surgeons are trying to shrink your liver. It makes it easier to get to your stomach during surgery. You dont want a leakage!!! More room plus weight loss is a plus. I'd say at least your doc is giving you a dinner meal. I have to go on a full liquid diet next week. Now that sucks... Godd Luck!
