I got my tube out on Monday July 24th and ever since I have not been able to eat more than 4 bites of something before I start feeling a little sick to my stomach. I have lost 7 lbs in 3 days. I have not thrown up yet because I always stop eating the second I start to feel a little funny. I am eating very bland foods that did not make me sick before my tube came out. I don't want to call the doctor yet as I am sure this will pass but I wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else. Any suggestions on what to do?

what are you eating? areyou watching that there is no sugar in your foods, chewing 30 times, and eating slowly? Right now, liquids and protein shakes (3 a day) are most important You may not be able to eat more than 1 oz of puree or soft foods with a meal, and that is normal. chicken, beef, steak, and dry foods are too hard right now for you, so they may cause problems. so be sure you get the water and proteins, and vitamins in, then work on frequent small amounts of soft foods. if you an only take a few bites that is ok, you are getting main nutrition from the protein right now. See if this helps you feel better. remember, no sugars at all, that will make you sick, and breads, crackers, pasta...no, no's....they can clog your pouch right now and are empty calories you don't need. protein, fruits and veges only for the first 6 months for optimal weight loss, then slowly add carbs and then only good carbs not the white stuff, breads, pasta, etc. Let us know how you feel, ok? blessings, Tami

Rebecca, The GTube may have had some issues, but nothing that would cause this.. You need to call Dr. Jawad's office ASAP! They'll check for things like a sticture and make sure you are ok.. Please call the office soon, and you can always reach one of the staff at www.jawadmd.com/forum Amy

Rebecca yes go by what Tami has told you, But also your a brand new newbie. No matter how small or silly it may sound Do Not Hesitate to call your surgeon with concerns when it comes to your Weight Loss Surgery. Waiting may make matters worse in any medical conditions. Mike

I agree with Amy, you really should go ahead and call Dr. J's office just to run this by them. It could be nothing, but then again it could be something that can be fixed quite easily if you catch it right away. Good luck and let us know how it goes!! Jo Ann

Thanks for the input. I guess I will call the doctor's office in the morning just to run this past a nurse/doctor. I doubt anything serious is wrong. I think I am not getting my nutrition that my body was used to (I was using my tube to take in my liquid protein because I can't stand the taste) and now my little pouch is not tolerating other foods. I have to say I am baffled because I am getting nauseous on eggs, chicken noodle soup, mushy green beans, and other foods that don't have sugars or heavy carbs. I think I might try liquid diet (Jello & broth) again for a couple of days and see if that will help. I am going to the store tonight to try to find some other liquid protein drinks that maybe I can tolerate. I have been taking "New Whey" through the tube but it is so hard for me to drink it by mouth. I will go back to high protein Boost. Any suggestions on really good protein drinks? Thanks for all your help. Becci

okay I have a quick question... I've noticed many people say that they can't stand the taste of protien and now I just have to ask.. why is it that it tastes to bad? is it to bland? too sweet? too bleh? I just am dead curious as to why everyone hates taking thier protien when I've seen advertisments for protien stuff that's suppose to be flavered and good tasting.. or completely tasteless and you can put in your food...? and aren't there like.. protien shakes you can get that are like.. chocolate and other flavors?

Mostly, they just dont taste good.. too sweet, or not sweet enough.. too strong... its a bunch of different reasons. The unflavored one has an after tasted to me.. I suggest getting a BUNCH of samples... so you can find one you really like afterwards!

I have tried several and I seem to like the milky protein shakes the best or at least I can tolerate them. I like the pre-mixed ones ok but they are expensive compared to the ones you mix yourself. I totally agree with the previous poster, you should get some samples. I am going to do that too now. I wish I would have gotten them before my surgery. I was used to using my G-tube for all my protein supplements but now my tube is gone and I have not been taking in my protein like I should. Good luck. Becci
