Cooking Like Crazy!

It's funny. I cook more now than I ever did before surgery. I figure that I eat so little that when I eat I want to be sure it's going to be good and healthy! Has anyone else found this to be true? Today I made a big pot of chili (a recipe that called for cocoa powder and cinnamon in the chili...it was actually good), a batch of sugar free peanut butter cookies to take to a party tonight, and a sugar free blueberry sour cream pie to take to a party tomorrow. Last week I made spinach and feta meatballs, the week before Seafood Gratin. I make a meal and eat it all week. It's great. No fuss and no wondering what's for dinner. How are you doing? Do you eat more in or out? Just wondering... Rhonda

Rhonda, I've never been much of a cook, but I'd rather eat in now than out.. only because I know what I'm eating, I have full portion control, and I can specialize anything to my liking. I've really been craving chicken cordon bleu lately.. anyone got a good, healthy recipe?

Rhonda what do you use for Flour (carbs replacement)? I've seen on TV programs they've used "Soy Flour", have you've tried that? In chili to add to texture I have used Soy Tofu, It takes on the flavor of whatever your cooking. I just crumble it up in smaller pieces.

Rhonda, Before I began all my multiple plastic surgeries in March I was cooking alot. But we've been eating take out alot since I've been recovering. I still try to cook some, but it has to be things that don't require much standing during prep or cooking. I've discovered since my wls that I enjoy being in the kitchen for cooking, not just eating! That was a real surprise b/c before wls I didn't enjoy cooking at all, now I do. Vickie J.

I have always loved cooking and did tons of it before surgery and I cook even more now if that is possible. I love experimenting and trying to come up with new receipes for my old favorites ..healthy versions now of course. I have converted over my oatmeal raisin cookies, my nannies banana pudding, pumpkin pie, and all sorts of recipes. They are all sugar free now and low fat! I love it!
