Another NO! BCBS denied me again!

While I was on the phone waiting for BCBS to find my information, my surgeon's office called my cell. It's another NO... My surgeon's secretary said the medical director told my surgeon revision is not covered under my policy...that's BS...that wasn't their reason for denial before it was my weight. Why would they even bring up my weight as a reason before if they don't cover them at all...weight wouldn't even matter!!!! Well at least I didn't have to wait the weekend. Then I asked the guy at BCBS how long an approval would last (so I would know about my PS) and he was like I don't know it depends and this wasn't specificed and it's not even approved. I was like I'm talking about one that I am approved for. He was like do you have the number. I said no but gave him the Dr.'s name he said I have nothing for that. I said well try it under the hospitals name. He said...the only one under that is the one I'm looking at and it's denied. I said I know I have been approved I have it at home...he said well you call back with it. I said I highly doubt I ever call you back! Sarah Margaret

Sarah Margaret, I'm so sorry that you're going through all this!! This is just absolutley horrible!! I have been keeping my fingers crossed for you that you got your approval. Insurance companies can really suck some times! But don't give up girl!! Keep fighting them. If you can afford it maybe look into getting a lawyer?? I've heard horrible things about BCBS and just following your story I'm convinced they truly are horrible and they don't even sound like they are very professional in the way they talk to you. Maybe make a complaint with the state?? I'm just rambling here, I know, I just feel so bad, I wish there was something I can do to help you out. Hang in there, don't give up!! Hang in there! You know there are more steps you can take to fight this, even if it means contacting an attorney or the state Insurance Commissioner. I didn't even try to fight BCBS for my plastics, just went self-pay b/c I just didn't have time to deal with it. But I would have gone to the Supreme Court if necessary trying to get my wls covered. Keep fighting and ask for both denials in writing - then nail them on the discrepency in their reasons for denial between the two. Vickie J.

Do you have BCBS of FL? I was told by countless Dr's that they don't cover the surgery at all. I was told BCBS of TX thats what I have covers it but they told me it's gonna be 12 months! Now I'm freeking. I can't screw up at all but I am gonna miss my monthly appointment by 4 days! I don't know if this will mess everything up! Whats wrong with wanting to be healthy?!?! thats all we wanna do.

Yes, I have BCBS of FL and my policy DOES cover WLS and revisions...they are just being buttheads. My PCP was suppose to be a part of the review this morning and BCBS refused to let her in on the call. I didn't find out about that until after I had spoken with BCBS this afternoon. I will be calling to complain about that on Monday and contacting our benefits coordinator again...already send her one e-mail today...but sending her another one to complain about my PCP not being allowed to be a part of the review when she is the one that referred me for care to the surgeon! Sarah, NO!! Don't give up. Do you have a copy of your policy? Call and call until YOU get a copy of the denial letter. Pull a copy of your policy. Get with your HR folks. Fight!! I always read your posts with admiration for how far you have come and also to see your pictures *I am obsessed with before and after shots!! I'm so sorry dear. I will keep a good thought for you!!
