I had my surgery Nov. 21, 2005 and the past week or so I have noticed I can eat a good bit more. I know this is common because I have done all the research but it is freaking me out just the same. I am curious about how all of you are doing with this issue and when you noticed you could eat more and how you handled it. I watch what I eat very closely and I still have not had a bite of sugar, not one soda and I do eat healthy. When I am talking about eating more I don't mean a big plate of food or anything but like at lunch yesterday I could eat more than 5 or 6 small bites of my chicken breast I could eat a good portion of it .....I realize that a big part of this surgery just like before is psychological you know the demons that are with you from being a "big" person, always feeling "big" and I am terrified of gaining any back and I don't want my pouch stretched!! I just am a little freaked out and I don't like it at all!

Kellie, According to my surgeon you should be able to eat more as time passes. I know it is a little freaky when you realize you're eating more than before but as along as you're concentrating on protein first and watching your carbs you should be fine. Also, for some reason, some days I can eat more than others, but I have clue why but from what I've seen on the boards, it isn't unusual for that to happen. If you're still concerned I'd suggest calling your surgeon's office and ask what he/she thinks, just to ease your mind if nothing else. Good luck and don't worry, if you're working your tool like you should eating more is exactly what you should be doing as more time passes. Vickie J.

I'm almost 3 months out but find if I don't measure my portions that I'll graze till it's all gone, as I haven't had the Full feeling since about a month post-op. Yes I Know it's a mind over matter effect in my case. I'm still eatting mainly just protein with a little carbs but very seldom. Yesterday I was taken off cholesteral drugs. My Primary forgot to test for Iron, B vitamins & Calcium levels. So more blood taken and will get results next week.I get weighed today at my surgeon's. Mike

Thanks guys for the information it is always good to hear what others are going through it always helps me so much. I make good choices and always get my protein in and carbs from veggies mostly! I occasionally will have a pinch of bread but not that often. If I ever come face to face with a yeast roll I might have to snitch a bite! I still get a very full feeling and I stop before I get there because I am so afraid of stretching my pouch out. Michael - I am glad you came off the cholesteral drugs that is terrific! I hope all your results come back just perfect .. let us know after you get weighed today!!!

Kellie - as time passes by - you will be able to eat more but it really depends on WHAT you eat..for example if you eat tunafish, or lighter foods like salads (add the protein!). But when you eat the meats like chicken you may get a bit full faster but 5-6 bites is still not alot. Depending on stress I can eat more or LESS somedays. I pretty much stick to proteins, and dont eat veggies (never did like them), I cant tolerate salads (terrible GAS) and I don't eat any breaded foods but I do have like a kids meal from Mikey D's or hamburgers sometimes with bread(bottom) or no bread. Ya gotta live. I do drink diet soda (got addicted once again) but I dont drink with my meals. I do workout alot so I guess I need to add some carbs - I guess we all have to do things in moderation. I believe in order to stretch the pouch you'd have to eat ALOT or beyond your fullness and probably be in pain...but eating 6 bites would not stretch it. We're with you!!! Hugs,
