What's going on?
Good morning!
I've been traveling on this path for 7.5 month and for the most part have been ok! In the beginning I had issues with strictures but I thought things were finally ok. Now I'm finding myself throwing up again. There's a pain in the pit of my stomach and I'm having bouts of explosive Bowel movements. (sorry)
Im contacting Dr Rosenthal today, as it's been exactly 1 week that I have been having these problems.
Has anyone else gone through bouts like this where you're coasting along fine and then bam! a major pothole drops you to your knees? Am I forgetting something almost 8 month post op?
I have no appetite. I don't want to "feeling" like this and I'm sounding whiny!
Thanks for your support

Barbi,
Try going back to soft food for a day or two & lay off the dairy. It could be something has irritated your pouch or it could be something more serious. A call to your surgeon is a step in the right direction. Hang in there & hope you're feeling better soon!
Hugs!

PS - Congrats on your weight loss! That is fabulous in less than 8 months!!
Dear Barbi,
You are NOT being whiny. I just saw this post of yours, after reading alllllll your profile. You have been having distressing episodes throughout your post-op life and it's hard to shake the feeling that, perhaps, instead of examining & treating parts of you, it's time for your primary care physician to consult with your bariatric surgeon for the overall picture.
Adhesions are not your fault.
Stricturers are not your fault.
Twisted intestines are not your fault.
A dense mass on your ovary is not your fault.
It is the responsibility of the physicians who are overseeing your post-operative journey to identify what is causing these symptoms and treat the cause while addressing the symptoms.
It's not enough, obviously, to just prescribe remedies for the symptoms. Your history illustrates that fact. In these last 8 months you have endured weeks of pain, an inability to even hold down water, much less nutrition. Don't be afraid to demand quality medical care instead of these ER- triage strategies (getting you hydrated, reducing the pain & sending you home).
You're worth fighting for!
Please keep us posted!
All the best,
Lauralyn

First Off - Thank you everyone for the support. I guess when we're down we tend to have little pity parties and I think that's exactly what I was doing.
I met with my pcp yesterday and he's treating me for a nasty sinus infection. His concern is not to cause anymore pouch distress. He also had me contact my GBP surgeon and I have an appt for Tuesday (this was my choosing - I'm in banking and can't leave my team on a busy Fri) I would have to drive across the state and I am on vacation next m/t.
I haven't varied from my meal plan - I guess I am a creature of habit - I found foods that sit will and I REALLLLLLLLY hate throwing
up so I would prefer to stick with those things that I know sit well.
I went back to phase II diet per the nurses suggestion and I've been able to keep a little more down - not everything mind you but more.
I am drinking as much water/pop cycles as I can tolerate withouth getting that cramping sensation.
This group is like family and I can't thank you enough for your responses.

Barbi,
Hi! I am sorry to hear that you are having more problems! I hope that you are feeling a little better after seeing your PCP and hope only good news forthcoming from the surgeon next week.
I was just thinking of you the other day and wondering how you were doing. Take care girl and let us know how you are! We care!
