7/20 Surgery CANCELLED

I called BCBS yesterday. They now claim they had heard back from the surgeon's office and that the file was complete for review my surgery was deemed not medically neccessary. Once the surgeon's office gets the official letter they will call in for a peer-to-peer review. When I get back to Miami I will start to draft my letters. I have seen enough doctors in the past 2 years who have told me to lose weight and I am going to have ALL of them write letters, if they won't I will write the letter and just ask them to sign it! Hell even the radiologist *****viewed my breast ultrasound mentioned that fact I should lose weight to lower my risk since I have a strong family history and there I was at 27 having a suspecious spot looked at. So I spent most of yesterday trying to figure out if the 20th was still going to be possible and the surgeons office sent me an e-mail saying...no, surgery is being cancelled. At least now I can be off my liquid diet...and I still have a few days of vacation left!!! Sarah Margaret

Sarah, please try to enjoy the rest of your vacation and don't worry about this too much. I pray that God will take care of this insurance problem of yours and that everything will come out fine. Just keep fighting. But enjoy your vacation first.

Oh Sarah I am sooooo sorry to hear about this!! Insurance companies can really suck sometimes!! Don't give up!! Fight for this with everything you got!! Please have fun the last few days of your vacation. I will be praying for an approval for you!! Keep us posted!! Jo Ann

I'm sorry you are having to go though this. I agree with others though....enjoy that vacation and worry about this crap when you get back. Don't let them ruin your vacation. I'm pi$$ed at my insurance now too, so I can relate to your Betty

Sarah Margaret, I'm sorry to hear you were denied. It sounds like you're getting your "battle plan" together and that is a good thing. Ask every doc that has ever told you to lose weight AND the docs & radiologists that reviewed your films showing why you need a revision. Their letters may carry more weight with the review board since you're not requesting a new surgery, but a revision. Good luck & let me know if I can do anything for you. Vickie J.
