Hi my name is Wendy Troyer and I live in Tampa, FL. I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of FL and am part of the Blue options/Network blue plan. Does anyone have this and have you been approved for gastric bypass? I heard that Blue cross won't cover bariatric surgery. I need some hope that I might have a chance of having the surgery. Hi Wendy, Welcome !!! Sorry I can not help you about your ins. I dont have them & am trying to get Aetna to approve me, I was denied last month. You need to call your insurance & ask them if they cover it. & if they do what all you need to do to get approval. Some of us have to jump thru months & years of insurance B.S. Hoops, but then there are the lucky ones who just have to have a 40 BMI. You can look up in the ins. forums on the top of the page & see if you can find your insurance co. there. Hi Wendy : ) Well I have BCBS State Employee PPO, the surgeon I am working with to try to get the approval gave me the surgical code and I called the insurance company, gave it to them and they told me it was covered and what was required to have it covered. Maybe you can get the code and call them too. Now I havent finished all my preliminary stuff yet so I have not submitted it to BCBS, but I am hopefull : ) Margo : )

Hello, I wish you the best in your search. I hope they have a code for you. The last time I heard, Blue Cross blue Sheild was one of the first who stopped covering the surgery here in Florida. The best thing to do is to call them. Good Luck!!!
