I'm posting for my sister who has dial up!! My sister had Open RNY in 2001 in California. She lives here in Central Florida now and is looking for a Bariatric surgeon to help with a few post-op issues she has (i.e. Hernia and checking to see anything else is going on with her new stomach and all...) She is on Medicare. She is willing to travel anywhere in the state. Please share the name of your Bariatric surgeon who takes Medicare. The first few surgeons she called do not accept Medicare or do not accept post-op Bariatric patients on Medicare. Many thanks! My sister is such a beautiful person and I get so worried about her... She is really suffering after losing all this weight and to have this hernia that needs to be addressed, yet no one will touch her....... it's very frustrating and disappointing.

Lisa an exact town where she lives would help. But also you can go to Insurances on the Tool Bar above. Scroll to Medicare in Florida. There will be a list of reviews by pateints. Read each profile to you see who they used. Good Luck, Mike

Thanks Mike. As I said, she is willing to travel anywhere in Florida. I'm not seeing how an exact town where she lives would help? If it helps, she lives in Summerfield. I posted hoping that someone with a recent Medicare experience could share their surgeons name.... Thanks again and know that I have given her several names and links from this site to start making more phone calls..... http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/bariatric+surgeons+in+florida.html

I know Dr. Overcash (352-368-2828) accepts Medicare and has done someone's hernia repair. Call the office and see if they have received the Center of Excellence certificate. This is a requirement of Medicare. I know it is disappointing but alot of docs won't touch patients of other docs however I know Doc. OC has done alot of revisions of other docs, etc so perhaps they can help. Good luck to you!!
