Protein Products
Unjury is a really good product. You can get it at unjury.com
It's a little expensive but the strawberry sorbet mixed with crystal light is YUMMY!! The vanilla is pretty good too.
GNC has some good ones. I get the pro proformance 95. The think I like about GNC is if you don't like it after you tried it you can exchange it for a different flavor!!
Also people rave about the Nectar (brand name) proteins, they have roadside lemonade, fuzzy naval, ice tea, etc... you can get that at bariatriceating.com
Those are just some of my favorites!!
Hope this helps you out some!!

It's definitely trial and error on the protein. I'm with you on the fuzzy naval.. I didn't like it either!! The ice tea wasn't bad.
I pretty much stick to the Pro Performance from GNC and the unjury.
Congrats on the surgery date!! Keep us posted on how you are doing... and if you find something good in the protein catagory let us know!!

Congrats on your pending surgery! I had tried various protein drinks but they contain sugar (DUH) and made me nauseaus so I stopped then someone suggested Isopure (got the chocalate) and it is a powder mixed with water and it has 50 grams per 2 scoops and I only use one and 8oz water, use the blender and it's pretty smooth. Get someone to give you a sample and see if you like it. It's pretty good cause it's not gritty. I also tried the powdered protein from Herbalife. Goodluck to you.
We use Jay Robb Whey Protein Powder (chocolate) mixed with ff milk and sometimes add Carnation Instant Breakfast and/or sf chocolate syrup. We use it making sf jello chocolate pudding. Many of the other powders have a funny smell and some didn't dissolve well.
The Isopure clear drinks, like the fruit punch, are somewhat globular, but we mixed with V-8 Splash, Crystal Light, sf fruit juice, Glaceau waters, to make it drinkable. We also used this in the sf jellos like the strawberry, cherry, etc.
The best protein bars we like now are Power Bar Protein Plus (Sam's has a variety box); the Slim-Fast high protein bars and several other varieties - almost like candy bars!
We bought Sylvester Stallone high protein pudding from Vitamin Shoppe, but it wasn't very tasty. Mixed it with sf jello chocolate pudding and sf chocolate syrup salvaged it somewhat.
I think all products should be offered in sample size - we've wasted lots of $ on powders we didn't like. Or at least offer tastings !
Thanks for the info everyone! I'm definitely going to take it all in consideration. I think I'll get with my sis and see if she wants to go half on some of the different kinds!!!
P.S. Has anyone tried the profect shooters that are advertised on the left side of the page here...they have 25 grams of protein!!! Thanks!!!
Congrats on your date! I did what you are trying to do but found just about everything I liked pre-op, I hated post-op. I swear by the Zero Carb Isopure Creamy Vanilla by Natures Best. Tastes great with water or milk. Also the AcheivOne coffee drinks are wonderful. I can't stand, before or after surgery any of the Nectar products but their new ones like Lemon Tea and Cappucino are great. I use a cheaper protein powder called Optimum Nutrition 100% Protein for mixing in puddings and such, but not to drink unless with milk. As for the protein bars, if you get tired of the chocolate coated ones, the new Rockin' Roll bars by Lambada are really good. If you haven't checked out Susan Maria's website, you are missing out. She sells individual samples of protein powder so you can try several brands and also sells sampler packs of protein bars as well as mixed cases of the bars. She is also the only one I can find that sells the AcheivOne drinks. What I suggest doing is to try the samples and then order just one jug or else a bunch of the samples to make sure you still like it post-op. Otherwise you will be like many of us who have spent hundreds of dollars on powders and bars just to discover we don't like them! Here is the web address to Susan Maria and fyi, her book has a ton of great recipes as well as creative ideas for your protein powder. http://store.bariatriceating.com/
Good Luck!
