I'm desperate, HELP!!!
You're welcome Jo Ann!! Just as long as you have something that purees .. that is what is important. I got mine the beginning of summer last year .. but .. the only thing I'd done with it is make guacamole!! Hmmmm!!! I wonder when we can have that???? Refried beans, a little low fat cheese some guacamole .. was that a meal I just made?? hahaha I ordered another cookbook today .. just getting prepared .. but can't recommend it yet as haven't read it. Will let you know after I look at it. I'd be a mess if I haven't convinced myself that these shakes are real malt shop shakes!!! hahaha How did the grits go last night .. was it any help?

Hey Karen,
I didn't do the grits last night. I wound up trying something someone else had suggested and that didn't go to well. It made me really sick to my stomach. So after that I was just not in the mood to eat anything else, but you live and learn. It sounded really good, but my tummy just didn't like it I guess!! I was going to do it tonight, the grits, but I wound up making some taco soup for my hubby, so I think I'm just going to puree the heck out of it and eat that. Of course remove a few things from it. It is sooooooooooooo yummy!! So I think the grits are going to be either my lunch or my breakfast in the morning. Wish me luck!! LOL!! And definitley let me know how the new cookbook is after you finish reading it!!

The taco soup sounds really good. My husband and I go out to eat very Friday night to our favorite restaurant. We have gotten to know the owner and chef so since they found out about my surgery have been making me broths and have sugar free jello for me on Fridays. The chef made a broth the Friday before I went in for surgery that was Minestrone Soup .. but he strained it so all I got was the broth. It was sooooooo tasty!!!!! I go Friday to get my staples removed as I mentioned before. The chef said he isn't fixing me a thing other than liquids until I bring him a note from my doctor saying I am on the next Phase. I told him watch out cause shrimp and scallops are coming up. hahaha Something else came to mind while I was writing this. I got a call from a gal that works at the same hospital as my husband does. She is a nurse and had this surgery done 2 years ago. She said if you try any new food .. since surgery to do it at home first before trying to eat it out. It makes sense but who thinkgs of that, right?? You have all my best wishes on the grits .... please let us know what happened and I will let you know about the cookbook.

Hey Karen,
Just wanted to let you know I did the grits!! It wasn't too bad, definitley nice to have something different. But I think I didn't cook it well enough. It was a little cardboardy. I've never made them before, but I'll try it again. I did find some interesting soups over at Whole Foods Supermarket. They are an organic food store. So that's been holding me over the past few days. I also got a few of their homemade soups and pureed the heck out of them, nasty looking, but I do have to say it was pretty good!! Hopefully this week will fly by and then I can finally move onto MUSHIES!!! At least I have something to look forward to now!! LOL!! Hope things are well by you!!

Hi Jo Ann,
You'll get it grits aren't easy to make I don't think. My mother-in-law use to make them. I went Friday to get my staples removed .. it was a snap other than me being me. LOL I got one staple stuck in the band of my panties .. took the doctor longer to get that out than it took him to remove the rest of the staples!!!! Good thing I was there when that happened!!! Can start the vitamins and move on to Phase III of the diet beginning Tuesday. Finally off only liquids!! Yippppeee!! I have lost 20 pounds since the day of my surgery. I had my husband get me 2 cans of Minestone soup but WOW .. the sodium is sky high!!! Hang in there gal ... you are doing great and you only have a little while longer on this phase!!!! Good Luck!!!

Hi Betty,
So did mine!! In fact, the book that you get when you opt bariatric surgery at Cleveland Clinic has it in it too along with other books. I ordered a few more cookbooks today ... not that I am into cooking but now have to watch what I eat and how it is prepared and low fat, low carb. What I love about this cookbook is it is easy to follow and has the breakdown of how much to eat at given times after surgery.
I notice you said pre-op ... want to wish you the best of luck!!

I am not a cooking person normally. I believe every meal should be eaten out .. probably how I got this way to begin with. hahaha My favorite saying is .. if it can't go from the freezer to the plate in 10 min. .. don't buy it!! Believe a kitchen should always be clean and only used for snacks and drinks. Said that so you know what kind of cook I am. This cookbook even looks easy enough for me to do. In fact, I bought a few more low carb, low fat ones today.
The "best of luck" was sincerely meant .. people that have had this surgery done will tell you if they had to do it over again they would. These are people that use to weigh over 200 pounds and now are wearing a size 8!!!! God Bless Them!!
