Update on Me: my Incission Wound

I saw Dr.Rehnke at about 11 AM. The undressed my Wound Incission. Cleaned the sirface and openned the main wound. They took a Culter to see if it is infected, but stated it looked good. Then Dr.R proceeded to probe inside with his fingers while cleaning it out with gauze. And yes it hurt! Once totally cleaned out he packed it with sterile gauze. They then bandaged it and I was sent home for more flat laying rest. A home care nurse will be here at 8 AM Tuesday to clean out the wound and repack it & rebandage it. Hope she's planning on coming back a couple of times each day as within 8 hours the current bandage was leaking beyond the bandage. I'm to return to see Dr.R on Thursday at 3 PM. And I update after. Dr.Rehnke has kept my Positive Spirits up and tells me everything will be fine. Mike

Oh I almost forgot, I got weighed today. I've lost 50 pounds since my surgery date about 30 days ago. And a total of 90 since Christmas '05. Woohoo.

Hi Mike Kudos to you on the 50/90 pounds lost. That is wonderful!! I hate to hear you are having trouble with the healing process, but it sounds like they have it under control. I've heard of this happening a lot. All should be well as long as they are staying on top of it like they are. Hang in there!! Betty

Congratulations, you have done great with the weight loss. Sorry to hear about the wound though. We do dressing changes like this on patients often in the hospital. I always make sure they take something for pain at least 45 minutes before I do the dressing. Do you have something you can take for the pain?

Mike - I know this is not unexpected to have a bit of complication but I think with your doc's supervision you will pull through. Follow doc's order to the T and you'll be fine..praying that you will be recovering smoothly soon! Keep up the good work on the weight loss..that's amazing thus far!! Congrrats!!!!!!

Well I have a Home-Care Nurse coming twice a day for the next seven days but even after one day she says my Incission Wound should be healed shortly as the drainage has already slowed compared to yesterday. Tuesday morning it was 7cm deep. I got a couple of pictures if anyone wants to be grossed out. LOL. Mike
