Hi, I have surgury scheduled for 6/7/06. The entire process happened very quickly. I need to have a psyc evaluation this week (I am going on vacation the week after) and am unable to find both a doctor who will do and one who will do it that quickly. Any ideas.

The place I went to wasn't very good about them. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.. What about the doc that Dr. Jawad suggests? I had Dr. jawad as a surgeon too... and I wanted to let you know.. you are in VERY good hands!

Yes I am new here. I am a self pay patient so the process is going quite quickly. I have been researching the surgery methods since my friend had the surgery about 6 or 7 years ago. At that time I was about 40 lbs. overweight. Since then I have gained another 50 and according to my wonderful insurance co. I'm ONLY 90lbs overweight. That just sounds soooo funny to me. Like being 90lbs overweight could possibly ever be considered healthy. So, long story longer.... I had mentioned the possibility of surgery to my pcp, and he thought it was an excellent idea because I have type II diabetes and very high cholesterol and am having a very difficult time controlling both but fortunately havent had any complications as of yet from my diabetes. So, I went for my consult about 2 weeks ago, am working on a couple of my requirements from Dr. Jawad, sent my payment and got a call the day they received it to schedule the appt. AND ITS IN 2 WEEKS. YIKES!!!!! Its just hard for me to stop spinning long enough to realize what I'm truly about to undertake. How much my life is going to change. I'm so excited about getting the diabetes controlled and having a chance at a longer life. I love doing active, outdoor activities, but my weight has hindered me from doing so many things I love to do and want to try. Both because of my size and by being self-conscious. And how about looking hot. I'm all for that, turning heads, feeling confident, secure, strong and healthy. Im very excited.

One important thing to find in a doc..is that he is WLS friendly and understands our pre-issues with weight and our post op issues......I have found that in Dr. Baker Hargrove (407) 963-5664. He is easily located in Downtown and has a few evening hours. He has been very helpful in my bulimia issues and am making a full recovery. I am VERY grateful to him for his help. If you can use him...do it not only preoperatively but postoperatively.
