I am new to this whole weight loss surgery process.

I feel so defeated. I weigh 323lbs, and have finally gotten a doctor to refer me for the surgery. I have staywell (medicaid). After calling about 50 doctors no one is accepting medicaid right now. Does anyone know of any docters who accepts medicaid. Please help!!!!!!!!!!

Did you call University of Miami/Jackson Memorial?

Cherina, I'm not sure but I believe Dr. Birkendal in Tallahassee accepts Medicaid. Also think I heard that Dr. Jawad in Ocala does, too, If you haven't already, give them a call. There are some docs that take Medicaid b/c I've seen folks post on here about it so keep looking! Good luck finding a surgeon!! Vickie J.

Thank you for the information. I finally found a doctor who accepts medicaid. A local doctor here in Miami, Florida. My problem is that he doesn't accept staywell. I have filled a grievance with them to release me to medipass. Hopefully this process doesn't take long. Dr. Cohen's office says "he would not be accepting medicaid paitents for to much longer". I will be attending his seminar on 05/18/06. Just to get everything started. Your pictures look great. I see you lost a lot of weight. It must be really nice!
