Topic: RE: Weight Loss, How after 5 to 10+ Years

How are you getting to 120 grams of protein. I'm 10 years out gain 20lbs I'm trying to loose it but can't seem to get above 40 g of protein and that's with drinking protein. I need a different protein I think.

Thanks

Topic: RE: What brand of vitamins do you use?

Good dry vitamins are expensive, but much cheaper than the complications you would get it you didn't take them daily. Anything that is in a soft gel or that has oil in the ingredients is not going to work. Thrive has a D3 that is not dry, in a soft gel, and has a relatively low dose of 5000 IU. Our doses are higher. Here are my suppliers. Dry A from Biotech, B stress complex from NAturemade, C from Naturemade, Copper from soloray, Dry D from Biotech, dry E from Solgar, Iron from FEosol, dry K from Relentless Improvement, Zinc from Solgar, and multivitamin from Centrum. They are all on Amazon, but I have bought some of them from vitamin companies that have BOGO now and then.

I don't need as much protein as I did decades ago. Over time I started absorbing more. I only need about 80 per day. Makes me sad because I can't eat as much. But more protein is still better than eating more carbs!

The sad truth is I do lose better/more if I give up diet soda. But I am not willing to do that very often! I still drink diet soda every day!

If you have diarrhea, treat it! I probably carried imodium with me for the first 5 years or so.

is it normal to have diarrhea everyday regardless of what I eat? I go at least 4-5 times a day.

Topic: RE: RNY to DS in Arizona

I have the revision to the DS surgery in Salt Lake City at St. Mark's Hospital. The doctor there that did my surgery is excellent and I've had my surgery for six years and have never had a problem.

Topic: RE: Xifaxan may help

Xifaxan is an antibiotic and should be used sparingly. It is killing ALL of the bacteria in your intestines (good and bad). This is fine for a clean slate, however the next step is to rebuild your bacteria colony with the use of probiotics. Continued use of any antibiotic builds up resistance which will hurt you down the line when you really need it and it stops working.

Hi all,

I do not post often here. My issues with odor and gas got worse regardless of diet and I went to see a GI doctor.

He suggested that my surgery may have left my intestines with lots of uncontrolled bad bacteria and thought I should try Xifaxan which is used to treat IBS. It seems to work pretty well. I will keep you informed
