I've had four Injectafer injections so far. ? They don't seem to work as well for me.
16 is way too low. It's not a transfusion, it's an iron infusion - big difference. What type of doctor are you talking to - your RNY surgeon or your regular doctor? Have you gone to a hematologist?

I was just curious because I'm only one year post op ryn and my ferritin level is 16. My Dr office is not concerned about it at all whereas my friends surgeon would order a transfusion at that level. I just don't understand why there can be such a difference of opinion regarding lab levels.
Sometimes this happens to me, but its definitely not consistent. If you feel that there's something wrong (you say that this has happened constantly since Sunday), then I would get it checked out. Has anything changed related to your bathroom activities? Try to look for patterns.
I've never had any kind of blockage so I don't really know what the signs and symptoms are.

I'm just behind you at right under 3 years out and I have weeks like that. One week I'm eating anything and everything next week I can't even eat 2 eggs in a meal. I think it's just life.
Good Luck!

The very first time my ferritin was 3. The hematologist I see has a rule that when ferritin is below 100 I'm anemic - some doctors use 50 as a marker. I had many symptoms of iron deficiency anemia, particularly pica (I chewed ice incessantly). Another symptom for me was restless leg syndrome and of course I was always tired. It's something I will have to watch for the rest of my life. I don't take oral iron so I rely completely on infusions. Last one was almost 18 months ago and so far, so good.
I've never had a transfusion. I know some people have needed blood transfusions, but I've only had iron infusions.

Hi everyone So I am four years post op (as of April). I started off at 458 lbs, and my goal was to get and stay under 200lbs. I hit that after around 2 years and have varied between 190-210. So been pretty good with that. I don't really diet I just make sure I eat in moderation and protein first.
Well to my question. On Sunday I noticed at lunch time I was hungry so I ate, but probably about half of what I normally would and I felt full. This has continued with each meal since then.
One thing I have made sure I don't do is over eat. So when I feel full I stop. When I haven't I will either have a sneeze fest (like 10 sneezes) or i'll have to throw up.
I still feel good. So I just hadn't heard of this before. Anyone else ever hear of this or deal with it?
Thanks
Jason
Could you please tell me what level your ferritin was at when you needed an iron transfusion? Thanks
Not everyone has the same issue. I don't have the same as most DS'ers. I have no flatulent issues and I need a little extra fiber to stay regular, no water/oily stool here. I have a few foods I can't eat but that's it. I'm 20 pounds below my surgeons goal weight and 5 pounds up form my lowest. Working on getting back down again after my regain. It's a great tool to help reset your body, the VSG is a diet with a smaller stomach, this is not.
