Gas, diahrrea (sp), and foul smelling stooles, is it as bad as it sounds?

I'm 19 months out. A lot of this depends on what you eat. Yes, the smell is different after surgery, but no one's poop smells great. My bowels are more loose now, but I wouldn't call it diarrhea. For the first few months after surgery, I was in the bathroom a lot, but it got better. On average, I use the restroom 2 or 3 times a day. Some days it's more if I eat foods high in fat or oil, especially salad dressings. They get me every time. I do have more gas than before, but it's not something that disrupts my life or anything. Each surgery has potential after effects that you'll have to live with. You just have to decide which you're more comfortable with. Joy 359/174

I had my surgery in 2001. Yes 18 yrs ago. The first month I was in the bathroom more then usual but since then it's been first thing in the morning and then after breakfast. Loose stools not diarrhea. I us toilet spray before like glade VIP sold in stores near toilet cleaner or on Amazon they have different brands. Basically it helps keep the odor in the toilet. I have no problems going to public restrooms. Only have occasional gas I just use the same spray just behind me not in the toilet lol.
