Thank you for sharing your experience--I appreciate it! The spasms did finally subside, thank goodness. I'm guessing they happened because I was so soon out of surgery and things inside were still angry with me for having them cut and rearranged. I've been able to tolerate liquids really well so I'm hoping at my 2-week follow-up here in a couple of days I can advance to soft foods so I can start figuring out what soft proteins will work for me so I can start meal prepping. I teach high school so trying to find times throughout the day when I can take a short break to have a little protein will be challenging but I will make it work!

I have joined a support group on Facebook that has been super helpful so far, but I'd like to see if there is a face-to-face one locally. I'll ask my doc when I see him later this week.

Thanks again; I am thankful for whatever I can learn from y'all!

I had the 2nd part DS in 2017. My Dr. Made my CC length 300, which made me a little upset. I never got to my ideal goal, but I did get to 179. I have a feeling he may have done that because of my age. My labs have stayed pretty good, so I guess I can live with this weight. I do have to have iron infusions every few years. I eat at least 80 grams of protein, and at least 50 grams of fat. I take 3500 calcium, 800 magnesium, 180 mk-7, 50,000 D3 per day, vitamin E 400, vitamin A 25,000 per day, 2 multivitamins, 50mg zinc. Yours will probably be a lot different, but this gives you an idea. Back when I had my DS someone posted the vitamins they took and that helped me a lot! Mine have changed a bit, according to my labs. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I've been aiming for 100-120 g of protein and 60-70g of fat a day, and hitting it most days now that I am on soft solid foods. I do still have to drink at least one protein shake a day to get there though, which I hope will change once I am on more dense proteins. Here are the vitamins I am taking right now (which may change in May once I have my 3 month labs):

Bari-Life Just One multivitamin with iron x 1
5000 mcg B12 sublingual
500 mg Vitamin C chewable x 2 daily
ADEK x 2 daily sublingual
100 mg B1
1500 mg calcium citrate chews (500 mg x 3 daily)
400 mg magnesium chewable
1 prebiotic/probiotic capsule
Potassium gluconate 595 mg x 1

My multivitamin also has magnesium in it. I'm hoping this series is good enough but of course if my labs indicate otherwise I can ramp up what needs to be increased and back down off of other things if need be. I'm trying to modulate my fat intake and I feel like it's a fine line I am walking between having an upset GI tract due to too much fat (I am also minus a gallbladder) and not enough so that I get constipated. Thankfully I haven't had that issue, and am trying to avoid it as much as possible.

Thanks again for your post--all of you have been really helpful and I truly appreciate it.

Randomly, if you're looking for some daily support or accountability, there's an active daily menu thread in the RNY forum. There are a few folks with different surgery types, and the crew is welcoming if that's something that might help you!
