New DS-er (revision to VSG)

With respect, Janet, I do have to apply a minor correction. Low or non fat is not necessarily loaded with, or even has any added, sugar. Basic dairy - skim or low fat milk or yogurt is just that - milk skimmed of the fat without anything added. Yes, we do need to be careful with frankenfoods - anything that depends upon the fat for its essential character - ice cream, butter, cream, etc. as they need to add funny things to make up for the lack of fat. Likewise, low carb frankenfoods can be just as nasty to us (go for things that are naturally low in carbs, fats, or whatever one needs rather than something manipulated to achieve a number.)

Sometimes the full fat is not the best choice, even for a DSer. Trader Joes Greek yogurt, for example. The full fat version is indeed high fat and very rich - at the expense of protein, as it has only 8g per cup vs. 22g for the low or non fat versions. Not what I am looking for in a Greek yogurt (though I do use it to add fat to my yogurt blend to get the amount that I want along with the protein.) As always, it pays to read the labels, the back, as well as the front.

Even with a DS, dietary balance is still an important consideration, though that balance may be shifted more toward the fat side than a normal person or one with a VSG or RNY. If one is consistently leaving the Exxon Valdez in the toilet, they are probably over doing the fats, and under doing them if consistently constipated. There's a balance there to be found.

Of course there's a balance in everything. Early out avoiding sugar is important and in my experience lower fat usually means higher sugar. Not always and I always advise to read labels.

I guess my point was read labels and learn what works for the original poster's situation. Being a new DSer means re-learning how to eat appropriately for their new WLS (adding fat in when they had been avoiding fat).

Yes! I am currently on a 10 Day Stall myself and I had my DS Surgery on Feb 24! It is very normal and common to get the Stall this soon. Your body is playing catch up after this Shock. You will start to lose weight again before you know it! So far I've lost 25lbs myself, 10lbs Pre-op diet and then 15 more after Surgery. Best of Luck on your journey!

I had mine on Feb 25.

I lost about 7 pounds pre-op and then I lost about 9 after. That took 1 week.

and since, I've gone up about 2 pounds. And nothing is changing. I have an appt today.

Any update? What did the doc say and has the scale started moving? How are you feeling?
