Remember that blood work won't give you the information you need about your bone health - you need a DEXA scan for that. Bone is your calcium storage device - your blood will steal calcium from your bones if you're deficient.

I will second that Gwen. I am six years out from DS, age 53 and have been dxd with severe osteoporosis. My last dexi was a horrendous-3. All my labs, calcium, pth, mag, d3, k1, 2 and 3 all normal. Three years post DS dexi ws normal. My bones tanked in 1 year.

I am grateful for my amazing endo who has me on fortero. Im praying for improved density next dexi. Also be aware, fosomacs, and others in that group will not restore bone. They harden thier bone where it is and slows further progression. Fortero is the only one that grows new bone.

Sharing to hopefully help others.

Blessings,

Julie

I would highly encourage an endo visit. Mine did a further study of my dexi because my hip was a -3 but my spine did not show a negative number; however, I've lost 1 full inch in height.

My endo pursued further tests to confirm my spine reading was inaccurate. Hopefully your dexi is accurate and you are well.

Blessings

Julie

You can, and should, be looking at your own results too. DEXA scan results are fairly end user friendly :)

I reading a lot about bones and calcium. What is also very critical and most docs do not address that is magnesium and other minerals for a strong bone matrix. Just calcium is not going to help most time for people with weak bones.

And lastly- while taking extra D and calcium, unless we have enough K2 to direct the calcium and minerals into the bones, the exrta calcium can cause more problem in the body (stones, calcium deposits in veins, arteries, tissue or organs) than help with bones.

There was a Japanese study, on a small number of people, who were given massive amount of K2 and improve their bones density. Plus a few more stuff on importance of Vit K2 and bone health.
