Hello everyone. I had an RNY performed almost 7 years ago and I lost about 115 lbs. Since then I've managed to gain back about 70 lbs thru emotional eating. Since I figured it out, I've tried WW with limited success ... only to gain it back in a few months. I have reached out to my surgeon about getting revision surgery and have an appointment in June. I've been lead to believe that he would turn my RNY into a Sleeve. Is this true? Has anyone had this done? I'd like some input of the process if anyone has any information.

Thanks.

A DS is basically starts as a VSG and then malabsorption is created by decreasing the amount of intestines, the connection is made much lower than a gastric bypass. So, to do the procedure, the surgeon would basically reconstruct your stomach and then do the switch part. I imagine that is what the surgeon was talking about when he said sleeve. It would make no sense to convert from an RNY to a sleeve as a bypass has slightly more weight loss.
